When I sat down this morning thinking about what to write today, I just kept coming back to the fact that time is flying by. I feel like this is a natural thing to consider when the seasons start to change, but this time it made me question whether I am really enjoying each day.
Most of the time, this blog will be a space for real estate and everything homes, but I also want to talk to you as a friend. Life is fast, we all know that, but how often do you describe your day, week, even month, as simply “busy” or “flying by”?
I wanted to know what it would take to stop, slow down, breathe, and take care of yourself. What we decide to do with the 24 hours we are given each day is totally up to us, which is honestly an exciting idea. We can choose to make the changes that would improve our every day and make room for what is important.
They say it takes 30 days of doing an activity to make it a habit. It’s the start of a new month and I encourage you to pick one thing, that if you did it for 30 days, it would improve your life. This doesn’t have to be something groundbreaking or time consuming, in fact, I’d encourage you to keep it as simple as possible.
I have decided to practice, what I’m calling “smoke breaks”. No, I’m not taking up smoking, but there is something to be said for taking a few minutes throughout the day to go outside and take some deep breaths and reset. This type of practice won’t take a lot of effort, but as someone who runs through my days always “busy”, it can be easy to forget the value of taking of slowing down for just a few minutes to take a breather and enjoy the moment.
